Story Time!!
I found this gem of a dress a while back, I rarely source online but when I'm having one of those restless nights I find bidding for things on Poshmark and Ebay to soothe me... This has become one of my more expensive habits but after purchasing something I chalk it up to a business expense which in turn, allows me to sleep at night. So full circle, I know.
So I spot this dress on Poshmark one windy wintery night, I fell in love with the silhouette and intricate detailing, I was skeptical though because the seller was claiming it was a vintage Paco piece but that the tag had fallen off... I decided to "take my chances" which weren't high considering it was the dress I had fallen for not the designer and poof, I made my bid.
One week later, the even more fabulous in person dress arrived at my doorstep. Where I was wearing this, I had no idea, but I just had to take it out on the town.
The issue was that it was winter, so I actually couldn't take it for a spin just yet. I had to remain patient and wait out the wear. More so than being an impulsive buyer, I am an impulsive wearer, I was that kid (still am) that wore her new shoes out of the store, the art of patience is not something I am familiar with or wish to practice. As a result of my childlike impatience I would longingly put the dress on with any and all winter accessories, just trying to fit a square in a circle. I tried brown wool tights, I tried combat boots, I tried oversized knit scarves, I tried fur pea coats... nothing worked. this was a true summer piece and I would simply HAVE to wait it out.
Months go by and just like the 2% milk sitting, no, rotting, in my fridge, I forgot. I forgot about the beautiful rumored to be Paco dress sitting in my closet the way I, no, we, forget about things we don't use. It wasn't until one faithful night in March when I sat down to watch Somethings Gotta Give starring my absolute favorite, Dianne Keaton (she is my style icon, we can get into that another time I am happy to go off.) This was the first movie me and my now boyfriend were watching together. I was still in the playing it cool phase, and so I you know, played it cool.... for about 128 seconds until one of the hot girls from the opening scene was wearing none other than MY DRESS.
"DO YOU SEE THAT??? DO YOU SEE HER DRESS???? I HAVE IT!!!! LOOK LET ME SHOW YOU, WAIT NO PAUSE IT, GO BACK PAUSE THE MOVIE AT... AT YES PAUSE NOW. OKAY HOLD ON LET ME GO GRAB MY DRESS. I NEED TO SHOW YOU LOOK ITS THE SAME DRESS!!!"
lol.
I decided to sell this dress because I quite simply have no where to wear it, after seeing it on the big screen I feel it wouldn't do the chiffon number justice by wearing it to Trader Joes. It needed an event more grand and I just didn't/ don't have any up my sleeve.
If your into things maybe being Paco Rabanne, or definitely being seen on an extra in a Jack Nicolson film, or if you just really love beautiful things with intricate detail, this dress is for you.
Fits a US 2/4.
Enjoy!
