Michiko Koshino launched her label in 1975. She was known for her menswear line, Motorking and her denim line, YEN jean. Michiko moved to London upon graduating college in Tokyo. Inspired by the London club scene, Michiko credits her designs and flavor to her surroundings, Identifying as a British based designer. It wasn't long before David Bowie, Moby, The Spice Girls, and Placebo were wearing her designs. Michiko was a pioneer of experimenting with different fabrics and constantly doing the unexpected. MK's niche is the use of modern technology and traditional craft to create her unique garments. Her runway shows were always legendary, creating a club like energy, a cross between a catwalk and dance floor. Michiko gained worldwide recognition after showcasing her inflatable rain coat. Her YEN jeans and Motorking lines have become collectors items. Koshino designed limited quantity of her YEN jean line, making the niche hard to get brand even harder to get ahold of.
